Two 19 year old boys in a band ...sound cliche? You’re probably correct. You’re also probably thinking they sit around talking about famous girls when they should be practicing. Well that’s also correct. But what you didn’t know is these two 19 year olds win band competitions, support nationally and internationally known acts and have just recorded their latest release, Treasures, by themselves. Interested? Well that’s just the beginning...
The story begins in the small surfer town of Bunbury in Western Australia. Meeting in high school at the age of 13, Marc and Michael initially hated each other. Yet through mutual acquaintances, common interests and music, they became the best of friends. Inspired by such dynamic and varied influences as AC/DC, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and modern indie pop, they combined their equally diverse musical backgrounds – drums and vocal lessons for Marc, guitar for Michael – to create their own unique, irresistible indie pop sound.
Now only 19, the duo has had much success in the past few years, touring throughout Australia and garnering a loyal, local fanbase in the hardcore/DIY community. With two self-produced EPs and their 2010 release, Treasures, under their belts, they are more than ready to take to the stages of the world, wowing fans everywhere with their quirky lyrics and catchy riffs.
Edgy samples, twangy guitar and mixing pop culture with a fiercely independent attitude. This is Antonio Paul.
More Stuff I Founded On Soundcloud Pt. 8

Spent all day today just doing nowt except pottering around Soundcloud listening to stuff, and watching daytime telly....
One of those 2 pursuits proved trivial. I'll let you decide which one.
Kanye West - Good Friday
You've gotta love Kanye, he's mad as a box of frogs. And now he's just gonna be giving tracks away. Every Friday too, which is handy, what with the 2000 year old established tradition of Good Friday. What a generous guy. I like this, not as good as Power, but then what can you do?
Get People - Odyssey
Starts off a bit world musicy but give it a chance, it slowly morphs in a Wham tribute. This one's for Big George, we're still thinkin' about ya!
Kurran & The Wolfnotes - Your Four Limbs
Heard this on the radio yesterday and thought it was a bit like Biffy, and I suppose it still is. Perhaps when I hear it on Monday it won't sound like them, but for now, it's Biffy-esque.
Weezer - Hang On
South Central - Demons
What film does the intro sound like? I think it's maybe.....it's definitely Stanley Kubrick, anyway it then morphs into a proper electro-pop effort.
Sara Lowes & The Earlies - I've Been Waiting
Tall Ships - Chemistry
One of the most exciting bands around at the minute, the more I hear, the more I like.
Grinderman - Heathen Child
Afrojack Ft Eva Simons - Take Over Control (Adam F Remix)
Wretch 32 - Traktor (Preview)
Little preview of something coming out soon. I know nothing about it, but it sounds pretty cool.
Antonio Paul - City Dreams
Saw Scott Pilgrim the other week, these lot reminded me of him. Surprisingly they are a band, not one guy. Actually there might be an Antonio Paul in the band, I haven't checked.
Nadine - Insatiable
I'm not sure if I like this or not, I dunno I'm always a sucker for a big pop single. Sounds a bit like a Bond theme, if I'm being honest.

Antonio Paul makes “City Dreams” come true
I can’t get enough of Antonio Paul, especially their song “City Dreams.” It seems that I can’t play this song without hitting repeat at least once and I can’t even tell you what my favorite part of the song is. I love every second of its bouncy indie-pop goodness.
Now, Antonio Paul is not one dude. It’s actually a couple of 19-year-old from Australia whose last names are Antonio and Paul. Apparently, two guys are all you need to make music these days. Antonio Paul creates their quirky sound without the aid of additional musicians, even doing so live. They take this same self-sufficiency to the recording process and recorded their three song EP Treasures independently. Not bad for a couple of teenagers.
Treasures was just released on iTunes and in addition to “City Dreams,” contains the songs “Monsters” and “West Coast Kids.” I’d highly recommend picking up a copy and if you find yourself down under, keep an eye out for a tour soon.

Bands to Watch: Antonio Paul
Wed, Oct 6, 2010
Post filled in: Bands to Watch, Feature
I haven’t been impressed by a good band in quite a while. I keep encountering bands that either have no talent, no taste, or no vision so it makes writing about anything quite impossible. But just when I’m about to give up, something special comes along….
Antonio Paul. I love so many things about this band I don’t even know where to begin. First off, the songs are catchy as hell, especially “City Dreams” but I also have an affinity for “Monsters.”
“City Dreams” is by far the hookiest. With the ‘whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh,’ a xylophone and a great chorus complete with crowd vocals, this songs sticks. I’m not quite sure who to compare them to, sonically. I suppose that’s a great sign, not being able to be compared to another band, but there is a lot of indie pop influence.
The band recently released a new EP called Treasures, with the two above songs and another called “West Coast Kids” which is also fantastic. For being a couple of 19-year-olds, this band already has a mature and refined sound. It really blows my mind that it takes a lot of bands a long time to decide on their vision, but these west coast kids have it from the get-go. Being from an Australian surf town doesn’t hurt them much either. Their music has a laid back and fun approach and it infuses their music with a bit of fresh quirk.
What is also commendable is that the band recorded the album the D.I.Y way (in a bedroom or a shed, I believe, although I don’t quite remember) and the end result is spiffy and lush. I don’t know about you, but I’m interested in what they’re working on next and looking into what they’ve done in the past.
Album Reviews: Antonio Paul – Treasures EP
Some of the best things you can send us indie music bloggers are good, raw EPs. There isn’t much depth to that statement — if it’s good, your friends will know it and (hopefully) we will know it as well. I want to say we’re your friends, but a lot of the time we aren’t. This shouldn’t scare you off though, please take it as critical analysis rather than some random dude behind a computer screentelling you your songs are bad. But, that’s not the case this time I do believe.
Antonio Paul, a not-so-interesting combination of 19-year old singer Marc Antonio and 19-year old guitarist Michael Paul, have been around for a few years playing shows around Australia. Their poppy and quirky songs are easily ready to move any dance pit, but taking a scalpel to the specimen tries to reveal a few other things about these two comrades. First off, prior to this push towards getting into the music stream Antonio Paul produced two self-made EPs in their shed. Now, comes along Treasures, an EP which should solidify their sound (or at least… what their sound is trying to get at). And what exactly is it getting at? Check it out below.
What I love about raw music like this is the potential. Potentially speaking, this album shows that Antonio Paul could be the upbeat indie-pop version of something like Phoenix or The Kooks. This is such a bite-sited version of what these guys have to offer, it’s hard to really say what they can or can’t be. But what they might be is very good.
No doubt, this was a short release. So short that it’s hard to say what they really have. Is it this upbeat band that will make you move all night or is there some flex in the machine? The “slowest” song on the album, the sing-a-long “West Coast Kids”, is still faster than some other band’s entire discography. With that being said, the one-dimensional nature really burns newer listeners. Also, on a shorter note, the first two tracks seem to bleed together. Mainly because both tempos tapped out to be around 220bpm each… but who’s to say these weren’t their best foot forward?
Loving the swagger. Seems like these kids got some more work to do in the shed, but for now… it’s a party.

[Introducing]- Antonio Paul
When you’re in a shitty mood do you listen to optimistic, upbeat, and jumpy music, or do you console yourself with pensive, melancholic and downtempo musings?
Personally I fall into the latter group of people. When I’m pissy or moody, I generally can’t get out of that mood until whatever’s getting to me is resolved, and listening to the former variety seems fake and tends to piss me off even more. I need something to complement my mood or thought process, and even if it just makes it worse, it still helps (along with a nice dose of sleep).
Antonio Paul would be the exact opposite of what I’d want to listen to when I’m in a mood. The duo from Bunbury in Western Australia have been friends since they were 13 (they’re now still only 19) and have released a three-song EP called “Treasures EP” that’s as jumpy and upbeat as Jack Penate’s most infectious sing-alongs, twinned with the only good few bits about The Kooks and some electro-pop beats.
As I write this I’m in a shite mood and the only reason Antonio Paul are not pissing me off even more is because I’m taking solace in the fact that I now have them to listen to when I’m in a good mood, sure to only heighten it when it does show up. You can buy the EP from iTunes or Amazon for less than $3 and below you can hear “City Dreams”, the lead track and single from the EP.

I am absolutely hooked on this tune by Australian duo Antonio Paul. Its infectiousness pushed me to look long and hard for influences or similar artists, but it is so sonically dissimilar from anything I could dig up. Its happy, poppy, disconnected snippets of syncopation creates a powerfully unique indie pop sound that somehow manages to feel like a top-40 hit. It is quirky yet mature, crowded yet synergetic, youthful yet timeless.
Oh, and they’re only 19. What’s next for these two?

The Finest Things I've Missed
Enjoy your weekend... bastards.
Download: Antonio Paul - City Dreams
You won't get any prizes for guessing this duo are teenagers. The youthful energy and exuberance almost makes me feel tired just listening but these good lookin' young chaps fit the bill for success. They're an emerging act with plenty of promise who certainly aren't shy of pounding your brain with the odd pop music hook. Again it's just my humble opinion but I don't think "City Dreams" represents their best work by any stretch, the track "Monsters" off their Treasures EP is by far and away the standout. None the less check out"City Dreams" and if that grabs you, go and get the rest! An act with a big future.

Weekend Pregame: Antonio Paul
Not our normal Weekend Pregame for you today. It won’t make you want to jump up to the dance floor, but I do dare you not to want to bop around with shear joy and silliness to this song. ‘City Dreams’ will blow any kind of glum thoughts out of your mind like a bazooka.
I don’t know much about the two boys who make up Antonio Paul other than this, they are two friends from Bunbury in Western Australia and recorded all of their stuff in a shed. Regardless of who they are and where they come from, their music brightens my day and gets me in the perfect lighthearted mood to greet the weekend.

New! Antonio Paul - City Dreams

Antonio Paul is a new duo coming up from Australia who recently released a three track EP calledTreasures. “City Dreams” is an uptempo synthpop joy with vocals reminiscent of The Kooks at times. Look for these two 19-year-olds to become quite relevant in the musical world soon enough. [via]

Introducing Antonio Paul's -City Dreams
November 5, 2010
Despite what the name might suggest, Australian duo Antonio Paul is not comprised of members named Antonio and Paul. It is comprised, however, of two 19 year olds named Marc and Michael who make choppy indie pop. Their recent release – Treasures EP – is filled up with right-angle riffs and handclaps. They have a prominent accent on display as well (if you’re not Australian, I suppose); vocally it reminds me of The Kooks or Bombay Bicycle Club.
“City Dreams” is the lead track from Treasures EP, and it serves as the perfect introduction: earnest vocals, kinetic beats – an almost hip-hop meets punk sensibility permeates the whole track. Imagine them performing. Now imagine you’re in the crowd. Are you dancing? That’s what I thought.
You can find Treasures EP on iTunes and Amazon; after you grab “City Dreams” below, the other two will only cost you $2, which is well worth it. The duo doesn’t have any tour dates at the moment, but I doubt they’re making up our way, even if they were in the States. The EP will do just fine for the time being.

Get Out The Vote - “City Dreams” by Antonio Paul
The old industry A&R men used to look for acts who wrote and performed songs teenage
girls would go crazy over. Who better to know what teenagers want to hear then teenagers themselves. If this were the old days,Antonio Paul would be scooped up and turned out for the teenage masses to consume. Comprised of two Australian nineteen year olds, Marc and Michael (can you guess what their last names are? That’s right Antonio and Paul), the boys create hook laden, indie pop tunes that will have listeners feeling like their teenagers again. Their EPTreasures is available on iTunes.
I absolutely love indie pop music and Antonio Paul has become a new addition to my list. The two Australian 19-year olds (vocalist/drummer Marc Antonio and guitarist Michael Paul) have created a sound very reminiscent of New York’s own Matt & Kim. If you enjoy M&K, you will definitely love Antonio Paul. Some people may think this striking similarity is a bad thing, but I enjoy their sound regardless. The duo’s music seems relatively effortless and carefree to me, far from forced and over-rehearsed. This is impressive considering the duo has recorded and produced their music themselves, including their 2010 release Treasures. For their age, Antonio Paul certainly exceeds expectations and puts their musical expertise on display.
Treasures, which dropped this September, features three upbeat and catchy tracks that I think you all will like. You can hear my personal favorite “City Dreams” below. (I can practically hear the Australian accents—can’t you?) I picture this song (along with the others) being played at some major music festival and the crowd can’t help but dance to the beat.Learn more about these guys and purchase their new songs by visiting the following links:

Antonio Paul's Treasures

by Josh Taylor
I’ve always thought that it’s peculiar yet marvelous that while I’m getting ready for the cooler seasons, the bottom half of the globe is warming up. I really wish I could migrate south for the winter and take Antonio Paul’s EPTreasures with me, simply because it is the perfect album for living it up in the sun. It’s quite appropriate then, that Antonio Paul are from a small surfer town in Western Australia.
But Antonio Paul is not one person, but two—Marc Papalia and Michael Edwards. Together with an iPad, a sample pad, a couple of guitars and some crowd vocals, the two have everything they need to create a full band sound. I’m not just talking about on the album either; they’re fully capable of doing it live as well. What is noteworthy is that even though their music is created with the help of technology, the pair has done an excellent job of giving the instrumentation a human feel, complete with the urgency and energy that their music demands.
Antonio Paul has some traces of The Kooks, Phoenix and Darwin Deez, but the influence that rears its head the most is punk-rock. Yet they’re not a punk band. Research reveals that Bunbury, Australia has an emerging punk and DIY scene, so in order for a band to succeed in the area they’ve got to tap into that fan base. This explains why, for an indie band, Antonio Paul’s songs are driven by punk drum beats pushing 220bpm. It also accounts for the sing-along hooks and crowd vocals, but everything still fits together in a way that makes sense. Of course, the band had to release several EPs before they got it right. But according to the band, Treasures is what they were aiming for all along.
The DIY spirit is also alive and well in AP. The band created their own logo and designed other graphic elements that are slick yet entirely DIY. Each of the band’s EPs were self recorded and produced in a shed, or was it a bedroom? But they sound fantastic.

One of the most overlooked benefits of doing it yourself is that you can experiment endlessly. Antonio Paul takes full advantage of this. Besides giving their songs ample layers, they fill in every crevice with little nuances, but only where it will add to the quirkiness of the song. In “Monsters”, there is one part where all of the instruments drop out for a brief guitar part. If you’re listening to the song on headphones, you hear the guitar part on one side and on the other, you hear someone quietly singing the guitar part. It’s almost as if the person next to you is singing along to that little melody. I even looked over my shoulder several times to see who was singing before I figured it out. Treasures has several of those odd little Easter eggs.
Treasures is Antonio Paul’s latest EP and it is three tracks of syncopated samples, twangy guitars and a fun carefree vibe. The band evolved with the release of several three-song EPs before Treasures. My favorite track is “City Dreams” for its dance-friendly xylophone. “Monsters” has a similar sound, and lyrically it’s probably the quirkiest. “West Coast Kids” is a lot slower than the two other songs and serves as homage to their hometown friends and their laid-back surfer charm. Speaking of charm, Antonio Paul’s Australian accent pervades the EP, making the music that much more enjoyable.
I’ve saved the best part about the band for last. If you haven’t already listened to the music, I suggest you hit the play button right about now because it will make Treasures all the more impressive. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Besides being fiercely independent, DIY, and having a fully-developed sound, the best part about Antonio Paul is that they’re only nineteen. Yup, believe it. They’re just beyond the age where you can’t chalk up their accomplishments to pure prodigy talent, yet they are self-aware enough to use all of their strengths to their full potential. It’s a great place to be.
The end result is a party. Antonio Paul is already making a name for themselves in Australia and I suspect it won’t be long before they make their way up to the Northern Hemisphere. They’ve already opened for notable Australian bands Sugar Army and End of Fashion. At nineteen, they’ve got plenty of time to make their big “City Dreams” come true.

Introducing...Antonio Paul
BY IWONTSTFU ON NOVEMBER 15, 2010UNDER NEW MUSIC
Today I want to introduce you to an Australian pop/electronica duo which goes by the name of “Antonio Paul”. The band consists of the 19-year-olds Marc Antonio and Michael Paul. The latter one even uses the iPad to create music. Funnily when meeting each other at the age of 13 the boys initially hated one another. But thanks to the same interests they later became best friends.
Antonio Paul just recently released their new EP called “Treasures” on iTunes. The three songs “City Dreams”, “West Coast Kids” and “Monsters” do follow the same scheme but differ enough to experience variety.
Listen to the single “City Dreams” here:
My favorite song off the EP is without a doubt “West Coast Kids” though. Nevertheless the EP is one you can listen to when you’re in need for good mood.

They’re only nineteen
Antonio Paul Treasures
Making bouncy songs
What’s the origin of the name Antonio Paul? I’ve heard that it’s a combination of your last names, but I’ve read that your last names are Papalia and Edwards. Can you set the record straight?
Yeah, we can see how that would confuse people haha but Antonio Paul is actually our middle names. We used our middle names because Papalia Edwards or Marc & Michael didn’t have the best ring to it. Haha Originally we called ourselves Paul Antonio but we thought it sounded too much like a European DJ so we made a last minute swap.
So what famous girls do you talk about when you should be practicing?
Haha good question! Me, I like the generic mainstream type of girls like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. They’re pretty close to my age. Michael prefers the older and mature girls like fellow Australian, Miranda Kerr and sex bomb Megan Fox. Haha We sound so seedy.
What’s the best part about having only two people in a band?
We’re best friends so we have super similar thoughts on music ideas and we are always hanging out so it makes it easier to make decisions and to jam heaps. Having multiple members in a band makes it hard to get them all on the same thought train and getting everyone on time for practiso (practice)
Your music has some hip hop and punk undertones, was that intentional?
Funny you should ask that, I am currently writing this from the back seat of Michael’s car going up to Perth for a punk and hardcore show. Haha But to answer your question, was it intentional? I would say yes, but the local music scene in our area is mainly punk and hardcore, so I guess the punk undertones came out naturally. As for the hip hop, I didn’t mind some beats and rhymes as a kid, but I love the flow and the rhythm of rappers and how they are so coooool
Every musician has a moment, either a mind-blowing show or the first sacred listening to what might be a major influence or something else that makes them decide to do music. What was that moment for you?
Sitting on the couch watching the music channel being like hmmm…I can do that haha, nah we have always been into music and playing instruments from a young age so it wasn’t really a sudden decision to start doing music. But a collective experience would be Michael and I playing at a school talent show with Michael pump’n tunes out on his guitar and me slam’n out some vox. I don’t know if we were any good but it felt cool.
You newest EP is called Treasures. Tell us, what is it that you value the most in life? Besides family and friends of course.
Weekends, money, driving and girls…Haha family and friends who values that? Haha we value being happy and not surrounding ourselves with negative or stressful things, just enjoying life ![]()
How long did the EP take to record? What was the process like?
It took about 2 months to get everything organized, polished, recorded and mixed. What was the process like?….hmm you know how you see music videos of artists in the studio having fun, doing it on the first go, being all happy and meaningful…yeah for us it was the opposite, just two guys hating on each other, yelling, arguing and a lot of hurt feelings. We finished recording all the guitar, bass, drum and synth tracks for “City Dreams” and I finished mixing it ready to move on to the next song and then I saved over it. You can imagine we would be pretty grumpy and that was only in the first week haha
Check them out here and listen to their song “City Dreams” it’ll make you happy ![]()

Antonio Paul - City Dreams
The brainchild of two 19 year old guys from Bunbury, Western Australia, Antonio Paul continues a fantastic line of catchy, addictive Aussie Pop! Now neither of them are named Antonio or Paul; they’re actually Michael and Marc, but their blend of twangy guitar meets melodic synth and simple, solid drums easily conjures up echoes of Vampire Weekend and non-Congratulations MGMT. “City Dreams” is Antonio Paul’s first single off theirTreasures EP and is definitely a song entering high rotation on my iPod!
Antonio Paul are a young duo from Bunbury with a 3 song EP titled “Treasures.” City Dreams is a quirky upbeat number complete with catchy xylophones and twangy guitars. Just press play.

Another band on the long list of sounds from outside of the United States that I’ve fallen in love with at first listen, Antonio Paul is a duo of Australian 19 year olds. Despite their young age, they have a sound closer to The Who than Justin Bieber. The running lyrics paired with the loose surfer guitar sounds breed life into a sing a long pop band. Of the three songs I’ve been introduced to so far, “Monsters” is by far my favorite.
The vocals in bands like this always get to me. While some bands go out of their way to cover up their accents, these boys let it shine through on all levels. You can hear the twang in both their guitars and their vocals as they search the depths of their young voices for the power to both hit the high notes and sing in chant. The sound is purely irresistible. They have a presence that comes through on each and every song. Is there anything else you would want from a pair of 19 year old Aussie’s?

Made In China - Antonio Paul
A couple of 19 year olds making great music out of Bunbury, what’s not to like? This song has just been added to my “magical nights” playlist. It makes me want to think about everything that’s happened in my life, good or bad, and I can just imagine a video with an abrupt start-stop flashing photographs type feel to it. The guitar gives an incredible effect and completes the song.
FEATURED :: Antonio Paul - “West Coast Kids”

Two 19 year old kids creating fun pop-rock driven tunes… sound cliche? May be, but these guys have got a lot going for them right now. They win band competitions, support nationally and internationally known acts and have just recorded their latest release, Treasures, by themselves. Interested? Well that’s just the beginning…
Marc and Michael met in high school at age 13, in their small hometown of Bunbury in Western Australia. And they initially hated each other. Yet through mutual acquaintances, common interests and music, they became the best of friends. They combined their equally diverse musical backgrounds – drums and vocal lessons for Marc, guitar for Michael – to create their own unique, irresistible pop sound.
Now only 19, the duo has had much success in the past few years, touring throughout Australia, garnering a loyal fanbase in the hardcore/DIY community, and with two self-produced EPs under their belts, they are more than ready to show the world their edgy samples, quirky lyrics and catchy riffs.
City Dreams – Antonio Paul

Antonio Paul is not one person, but two Australian teenagers who show off how talented they are by producing irresistible indie pop. As soon as I heard the first song on their brand new release, Treasures EP, I was hooked.
The guitar riffs on this one are awesome, and the vocals are mellow and soothing. The drum beat also changes a couple times throughout the song, and it’s really refreshing. One sugary synth melody also keeps coming back around, and that’s the part I keep on humming ; it’s just so catchy. While seemingly all upbeat and funky at first, there is most definitely a softer more reflective side to this song that first reveals itself after around two minutes. I think it really adds to the track, and once it concludes, you realise that there are so many different moods thrown together in there that you just have to go back and listen a few more times. Well, that’s the way I felt anyways. You can pick up a copy of Treasures EP on iTunes, and check out the guys’ MySpace for more info.

Artist: Antonio Paul
Music is a creative path for many kids and adults a like. The two 19 year olds that comprise Antonio Paul are no different from the rest. Yet, what sets them apart is music is their life and they are making sure they become known. The Australian duo have toured nationally and internationally supporting numerous acts and recorded their newest release Treasures by theme selves.
Interesting enough, the two friends initially met at high school and hated each other. Eventually, they would find out they had common interests, music being one. Since they met, the pair have continued to improve their music, crafting some great indie-pop.
The guys have a unique style and have done some serious DIY to get fans all over their home country and now are beginning to gain international notoriety. If you are looking for fun songs that are undeniably catchy, then you will be a fan. Listen below to "City Dreams" and "Monsters" from Treasures, which you can get on iTunes here.

Antonio Paul: “West Coast Kids”

I was trying to pin down the sound of Australian teenage duo Antonio Paul while listening to their three-track Treasures EP. A punk-rock cousin of Matt And Kim? No, that’s not quite right. Vampire Weekend meets The Kooks? Close.
At any rate, the duo earnestly combine angular guitar riffs with samples and drums to create a sound that’s unique and has some delightfully rough edges. Both members of Antonio Paul (Marc and Michael) are the ripe-old age of 19, and recorded Treasures on their own. With “West Coast Kids”, the wonderful guitar jangle and teenage angst are in full effect. It’s a solid dose of indie pop, and it’s worth checking out their EP. Stream “West Coast Kids” and download “City Dreams” from Antonio Paul below!

A wuvable mash up of easy listening emo and self-aware dream pop. Really, it strikes me as …& So I Watch You From Afar spooning SoftCell. The whole celebration of it all is easy to get wrapped up in; there is nothing really snide or sub-textual about it. Treasures works better as a single than potential introductory EP to the band; the dynamics remain static over the course of the three tracks, never diverging in tone and shape. It’s detrimental, yes, but not unforgivable. It would be hasty to say that this and the outfit’s probably forthcoming efforts are insubstantial – these songs capitalize on their design and make no promises beyond the feel-goodisms of a suitable summer soundtrack.

(7.0/10)
Antonio Paul: City Dreams
Sweet new music from a band that happen to be from Australia! Which is only a surprise as when I heard the song “City Dreams” I thought that they were clearly from the South-East of England. As City Dreams kicks in you can see why, with the high tempo sampled drumming, staccato chord riffs and learing vocals I thought that they had come out of the the Jack Penate school of music. Which is great thing, Penate is a dude.
It also surprised me, as much as they come from Down Under, was to hearing that there was only two of them in the band. Antonio Paul are Marc Antonio and Michael Paul (Do you see what they did there?) and are best makes from surfer town Bunbury in Western Oz. And they are only 19. The bastards!
Marc deals with the vocals and sampling whilst Michael brings the melody to the band with on the guitar and iPad (so that’s what its for?) and cite their influences as AC/DC and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
They apparently have a drawn a decent following in their native land but I think that the UK would really take these guys to their bosom with I similar vibe to The Wombats, Paolo Nutini and the aforementioned Jack Penate. So when are you heading to the UK guys? Wrap up warm!
City Dreams is the first track from their “Treasures” EP and its great so grab yourselves a copy!

Two 19 year old boys in a band …sound cliche? You’re probably correct. You’re also probably thinking they sit around talking about famous girls when they should be practicing. Well that’s also correct. But what you didn’t know is these two 19 year olds win band competitions, support nationally and internationally known acts and have just recorded their latest release, Treasures, by themselves. Interested? Well that’s just the beginning…
