OFFICIAL BIO

CZARINA (aka Vero Faye) is a multi-faceted Brooklyn-based musician, who is also known for her highly accomplished footwear and accessories line, IVY KIRZHNER.  A New York native, CZARINA has been a professional singer since the age of fourteen and training for Broadway right before she discovered her love for rock music, including her heroes, Nirvana, Soundgarden, TOOL and Nine Inch Nails.  She decided to pick up the electric guitar and keyboard, and started composing rock music at age fifteen.

A proud alum of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School Music and Art, CZARINA was simultaneously honing her creative sensibilities in design and visual arts as she was pursuing passion projects in music.  Always perpetually torn by her love for both music and design, CZARINA decided to pursue footwear and accessories design at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.  During this time, she formed and led the New York City-based progressive metal band, AIKOSTAR. The band had regular performances at legendary venues such as CBGBS, The Continental, North 6, Galapagos, The Knitting Factory, and Don Hills.  AIKOSTAR released its debut LP in 2006, right before CZARINA decided to take a hiatus from music to focus on her burgeoning career in footwear design.

In the years to follow, CZARINA became one of the most sought-after creative talents and design leaders in the footwear industry with several notable global brands under her helm.  In 2012, she founded her own design company and the footwear label named after her other pseudonym, IVY KIRZHNER NEW YORK. With a design aesthetic true to her own notoriously unapologetic rock-and-roll persona, her footwear collection became a global success. With a long list of celebrity clientele including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Kesha, Lily Collins, Cassie, Jamie Chung and Tori Kelly, her line was stocked at specialty retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom Salon, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Intermix, Harvey Nichols London, Printemp Paris, and her own pop-up concept boutique located in the West Village, New York City.

Despite achieving success and notoriety in her design career for several years, in early 2018 CZARINA decided to make a life-altering decision to take a break from design to rekindle her passion for making music once more.  Now equipped with a vast, dynamic skillset as a creative professional, a unique perspective, an untethered design aesthetic and sensibilities, a rich reservoir of life experiences to pull inspiration from, and downright fearless attitude, CZARINA makes a return to music to develop a sound that is a true reflection of her progressive, modern mindset and spirit.  Dabbling with atmospheric synths, lush cinematic tones inspired by her obsession with 80s tech noir films, CZARINA blurs the lines between retro and modern, along with vivid and colorful lyricism, sonic guitars, heartfelt melodies and vocal hooks which are all signature to a soundscape that is truly her own.
